 What is a Green Walk?

Green Walks are an initiative of Bushwalking Victoria that aims to increase walking participation in the community

A Green walk  is a walk in a park or natural environment  - rather than in built-up  areas.  A Green walk can be in urban and local parklands,  along creek-side tracks  and  in  local bushland parks.

Green Walks are good for you

Green walks offers special benefits associated with connecting people to nature.  Walking is excellent for general fitness, suits people of all ages and abilities, and is cheap.  There is plenty of scientific and medical evidence that active recreation in green spaces is highly important for physical and mental health and overall wellbeing.

Taking a   Green walk  will help to increase confidence,  reduce stress,  increase motivation,  increase interest in life and help the development of social, environmental and personal skills.

Go Further

That is, it may be time to go further and start Bushwalking to explore bushlands in more distant urban areas as well as those outside the metropolitan area.
A great way to go further and meet other people interested in Bushwalking is to join a Bushwalking club.
There are Bushwalking clubs across Victoria keen to welcome new members.
Go to Bushwalking Victoria’s website to find a Bushwalking club in your areahttp://www.bushwalkingvictoria.org.au/join_a_club.htm
